Forest Green Coatery

I already have a coat.  In fact, I have several decent winter bluster-proof body coverings. Do not get me wrong. And were I an actual  lass from a bygone era-  I may only have had one good winter coat: ever.

But I isn't. And so I have a few on rotation. Some, I have recently rotated out to the Age Uk Donate a Coat appeal.

So - when I saw, what I believe to be a 1960's coat of warmth for a snip at £10 in a charity shop, I needed it.

Right?

Whilst not flattering in shape on me - it was more than pleasing in shade.

For it was green. A green of foresty hews of greeness.

I tried it on and thought it to be hideous. I made the above face. The Beard mumbled a comment about Pat Butcher. I had to agree. But then I remembered by all time favourite ever ever ever accessory.

The humble belt!!

Kept safely in the deep and cosy pockets of this wool / cashmere blend coat of bargains, it has pulled it all in and given it a shape I like.

This is my smug face. On account of the belt. And the price. And, most of all the toasty greenery that is now mine.

Yippy, yippy ,whoop, whoop, whoop!!!!

  1. Ooh yes, perfect now it's belted! I do love your expressions. Have you ever thought about modelling for 'Deirdre's photo case-book' in The Sun?

  4. Hot totty! The belt definitely makes it work for you. (Love those shoes too, they're aces.)

I only ever had one winter coat at a time for years. I was only a couple of years ago that I decided nuts to it, I was buying TWO distinctly different coats. It's jolly liberating.

  5. Oh yes, it looks fab belted. It didn't look Pat Butchery before though. Not enough earring or leopard print.

  10. I actually thought it looked ok without the belt, but it's how one feels about a thing that makes or breaks it, isn't it?
Have you thought about taking it to a tailors to have it re shaped, make it more waisted?

I am obsessed with coats and jackets, many of them impractical velvet, but in my defence they are all second hand!

  12. I think belts are the heroes of the accessory world. What a difference a belt makes... someone should write a song about them.

  13. Looks so cute belted!! What a great steal. Sadly I am probably only a couple of weeks away from having to break out a completely un-vintage puffy winter coat here. For shame!

  18. Wow!! You look absolutely fabulous in that! Amazing how the belt transforms it. I'm now going to have to take a spare belt with me whenever I go charity shopping!!! I swear the racks have been full of coats like that but I havent given them a 2nd look - yet!!!

    love your hair down amor.
Your coat reminds me of my La Dama.
I also felt big in it, except when I would put my hands in my pockets. :)
I need a skinny magical belt. You look gorgeous.
